报告人简介:

        Prof. Zhiqiang Cao received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington in 2011 under the guidance of Prof. Shaoyi Jiang. He was a research fellow in Prof. Robert Langer’s lab at David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Department of Anesthesiology at Children’s Hospital Boston and Harvard Medical School from 2011 to 2012. He received his B.Eng. in Polymer Materials and Engineering and M.Eng. in Biomedical Engineering from Tianjin University, China in 2004 and 2007, respectively, under the guidance of Prof. Wenguang Liu. He joined the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at Wayne State University in 2013 and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2017. His research is supported by National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH) and multiple programs from Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). He receives the 2016 NIH NIDDK Type 1 Diabetes Pathfinder Award (DP2).

        Cao lab focuses on exploring novel polymer materials and studying their translational potentials in healthcare. His lab has immediate open positions for PhD students (starting Fall 2018) and postdocs (Research fields: Biomaterials and/or Immuno-bioengineering). 报告内容简介:

        Zwitterionic polymers have found a wide range of medical applications based on excellent non-fouling properties. A few projects will be introduced where novel compositions based on zwitterionic materials showed a tremendous impact on device coating and nanomedicine. Coating a medical device involves complex chemical reactions and difficult treating procedures. For the antimicrobial and disinfection purpose, there is no coating technology currently available that can prevent the notorious biofilm formation issue for a long term, which elicit enormous healthcare problems. New coating technology will be introduced with high durability and promising potential to address the biofilm threat. One of the critical challenges with nanomedicine is the poor stability of the nano-sized colloids. A few strategies will be introduced to construct zwitterionic polymer based nano-systems with remarkable stability for drug delivery.
